Hey there! I’m Tracy, a long-time photographer and creative based in Northern, MI. In my last post, we explored a few amazing wedding venues in Northern Michigan, including the historic Elberta Life Saving Station and the stunning Homestead Resort. Today, we’re heading to Crystal Mountain Resort and Traverse City’s historical KirkBride Hall, Botanical Gardens, and the Historic Barn Park.
All offer unique wedding locations for your amazing day!
Let’s start with Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville…
Crystal Mountain Resort: Where Romance Meets Adventure
Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville is more than just a winter wonderland – it’s a year-round destination for couples seeking a unique and unforgettable wedding experience. With stunning views, a variety of indoor and outdoor venues, and exceptional service, Crystal Mountain Resort offers something for every style and budget.
Personally, I have a fondness for the Michigan Legacy Art Park nestled in the woods at Crystal Mountain. The outdoor amphitheater and wooded paths are perfect for a smaller, nature-loving gathering. but there is something for every size celebration at Crystal. From intimate gatherings in the Hudson Bay to grand celebrations in the Mountain View Lodge, Crystal Mountain offers a range of venues and their experienced wedding team will guide you every step of the way, making your planning easy!
C+K had their wedding at Crystal Mountain in August at the Petritz pond lawn, and their beautiful reception followed at the Level 4 Rooftop Bar.

Kirkbride Hall: Historic Charm in Traverse City
For a touch of history and elegance, look no further than Kirkbride Hall in Traverse City. This iconic building, with its stunning cathedral ceilings and stained-glass windows, provides a unique and unforgettable backdrop for your wedding day. I have really enjoyed photographing couples at the fully customizable KirkBride Hall! You can choose the outdoor lawn or the indoor chapel for your ceremony.
Outside, you and your guests are surrounded by the beautiful lawn and trees. inside, you have the stunning stained glass windows and fully restored chapel ceilings. If your vibe is vintage, you can plan your dream wedding here!
L+J had their ceremony and celebration inside KirkBride Hall, and the Botanic gardens were available for some “Just the Two of You” photos.

The Cathedral Barn at Historic Barns Park: Rustic Elegance:
For a grand and unforgettable celebration, the Cathedral Barn at Historic Barns Park is an exceptional choice. This spacious and beautifully restored barn offers a blend of rustic charm and modern elegance, perfect for your entire crew to spread out and explore.
Why Couples Love It:
Spacious and Versatile: The barn can accommodate up to 200 guests, with plenty of room for dancing and celebrating.
Historic Charm: The barn’s original features and rustic charm create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Recently, I photographed M+D’s wedding at the Historic Barns. They had a sweet and bright Spring day for their ceremony on the lawn, and then after family and group photos, the three of us explored the woods and paths right next to the venue. All of their photos were on site. No need to pause for travel!
Stay tuned for Part 3 of this series, where wI’ll share even more incredible wedding venues in Northern Michigan! Feel free to tell a friend who’s planning their wedding to check me out KarunaPhoto)for more wedding venues in Northern Michigan, as well as easy-going and fun photos!
