When Katy contacted me about her engagement photo session, she had several things in mind: the date 1-25-25, a body of water and snow. As a North Carolina native, snow was a rare and magical occurrence for her. Her fiancé, James, is a Michigan native, and they both share a deep love for the outdoors in any season. Katy originally envisioned a session near Luther, but the heavy snow made that location inaccessible. So, I scouted an alternative location that I knew both Katy and James would adore: Northern Exposure Campground in Mesick. Unbeknownst to me, this spot held special meaning as it was one of their favorite fishing spots. They were there the day before the session ice fishing!
The day of the session dawned with frigid temperatures, but thankfully, they warmed up to a balmy 35 degrees. Despite the mild temperatures, the wind carried snow from the pines, creating a snowy dusting and lovely atmosphere. Katy and James, true adventurers, embraced the elements with laughter :)
We explored the picturesque campground, capturing their love amidst the snow-covered pines, by the icy shoreline, and near a giant log stack. We even ventured off-trail to a small bridge I showed them the day before, adding a touch of uniqueness to their session.
Katy and James were incredibly easygoing and up for anything. Their genuine love for each other shone through in every photo. After receiving their gallery, Katy expressed her delight: “We got the pictures! They turned out so amazing! You did a wonderful job!”
Thank You!
This experience was truly a reminder of the beauty of winter and the magic of capturing love stories in unique and unexpected settings.
Congratulations to Katy and James!
Wishing them a lifetime of happiness.
