Alexa and Montana had an epic wedding day at Blue Bridge Events Center, a laid-back, wooded venue nestled amongst the pines in Traverse City. Easy access for their guests, an all-inclusive package, and plenty of hangout spots – it was their kind of place. We met earlier in the year for a wooded engagement session.
Blue Bridge had tons of outdoor space for Alexa and Montana’s friends and family to mingle and talk.
The two wanted to share private vows before guests arrived but kept the tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony.
They held hands through the opening and shared their sweet thoughts.
Blue Bridge provides a bridal suit. This is just outside of it so Alexa had privacy and Montana couldn’t see her.
Alexa, stunning in a beautiful lace overlay dress, walked down the aisle with her dad, while Montana, looking sharp in a dark grey suit with a touch of mauve in his boutonniere, beamed love from his huge smile.
Their vows, exchanged before friends and family, were sweet and supportive.
The day was a mashup of laughter, tears, and genuine moments. The officiant’s words were a blessing of love and commitment, not some dramatic monologue. A campfire blazed for guests to enjoy, a true Michigan scent. Photos of Alexa and Montana, snapshots of their journey, dotted the dessert table.
But the best part? Their little one, laughing and playing with cousins and friends, then dancing and cuddling with the grandparents and the couple.
As the sun dipped low, casting long shadows across the lake, the party kicked into high gear. Alexa swapped her dress for a comfy “Wifey” sweatshirt, while Montana donned a matching “Hubby” one. They cut the cake, surrounded by friends and family, still rocking the veil – a reminder of their vows, not some fancy prop.
Later Alexa and Montana, hand in hand, stole away for a bumpy golf cart ride,(sunset photos) their laughter echoing through the trees.
As a photographer, I’ve seen a lot of love stories unfold. But Alexa and Montana’s wasn’t about grand gestures or over-the-top fantasies. It was about a love that embraced laughter and tears, hard work and sunsets, and pizza (because pizza is awesome). It was a love story that resonated long after the last dance. Congratulations Alexa + Montana!!
