Traverse City’s winter got a bit warmer when Darian decided to throw a surprise proposal into the mix during their visit with A to see family.
D and I discussed the timing, the setup, and how in love the two are (also how difficult it is to surprise A!)
So we planned an indoor family session to start with and while there was a change of clothes to something more festive, I would sneak down to the lake in their family’s backyard.
A was a bit on edge about the family photos, but the real action unfolded as they headed down the stairs to the lake.
I had planned to head down first to “check out the back steps” as a family picture location as they changed.
I quickly made my way down to the lake and stood up the fallen letters (a bit of wind that day!) and switched them on :)
A was totally surprised and photographing their tender moment was Wonderful! She said Yes!
The parents showed up with champagne to join the sweet celebration.
There were a few laughs, maybe a tear or two, but only happy tears!
