Friends to Forever
Caroline and John’s love story began where many great romances blossom: in high school! They met at a freshman pre-prom dance class. Their shared passion for dance undoubtedly played a role in the overall feel of the wedding, with a hint of what was to come at the reception adding to the excitement.
I enjoyed an evening couple’s photo session with Caroline and John in Traverse City at the Botanic Gardens a few weeks before the big day. (Have a look!)
It was the perfect way to get to know each other better before their big day at Hawk Hollow in Bath, MI. They asked for suggestions on where to go afterward and I may have given them too many options :)
A September to Remember
The wedding took place on a sun-filled September 14th. The bright skies mirrored the emotions of the day. A nervous excitement hung in the air before the ceremony, quickly transforming into pure fun as the festivities unfolded.
Caroline, a vision in a white beaded bodice with a flowing tulle skirt and a fairytale-like cape, epitomized classic bridal beauty. The ceremony attire transitioned seamlessly into a reception-ready tea-length skirt, perfect for twirling on the dance floor. John complemented his bride’s elegance in his timeless suit.
The color palette of vintage mauve and black and white with silver accents offered a touch of sophistication and drama. This choice perfectly captured the essence of the venue and the couple’s personalities.
Family Traditions and Special Touches
A beautiful cake cutting ceremony and a special dance for John’s grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary added a heartwarming layer of family tradition. But the truly unique touch? The breathtaking ballroom lighting with twinkling stars and a moon, casting a magical glow on the dance floor. A raised table for the couple adorned with a crystal candelabra added a touch of regal elegance.
Capturing the Magic
As a photographer, I had the privilege of witnessing Caroline and John’s love story unfold. Having photographed Caroline’s cousin’s wedding, there was a sense of familiarity and comfort from the very beginning. My connection to the family, combined with my flexible approach and calming presence, allowed me to seamlessly capture the emotions and energy of the entire day.
