Hey everyone, Tracy here from KarunaPhoto! *waves
Last summer, I had the joy of documenting an epic extended family session on the shores of the mighty Lake Michigan, at the stunning home of my clients’ on Old Mission Peninsula.
Let me tell you, sunshine, laughter, and enough family fun to fill a sandcastle bucket – it was pure magic!
We kicked things off with a breathtaking panorama. The family assembled on a gorgeous outdoor cement + glass overlook, the crystal-clear water of the lake stretching out forever as our backdrop. Talk about a “pinch me” moment! Next, we strolled down a charming wooded path, grandparents and grandkids hand-in-hand, creating memories that would melt even the frostiest heart.
To capture the unique dynamics of each family unit, we then split into individual groups several different times. Four families, each bursting with personality, made sure the camera files overflowed with goofy grins and heartwarming moments.
The real fun began when the beach called our names! We started with some classic (and slightly chaotic) large group shots. Then, we focused on individual families playing in the water and soaking up the sun.
Speaking of sunshine, the little ones were ready to play, leaving trails of laughter and joy in their wake. Meanwhile, the adult brothers, channeling their inner Patrick Swayze (with maybe a bit less grace), attempted an iconic Dirty Dancing lift scene. Let’s just say there was more chest bumping involved than the movie might have you believe!
We finished up back at the top (front yard), where we balanced classic family portraits with sweet candids. Pups joined the party, zoomies were initiated, and bubbles were chased :)
In just over an hour the family had a couple hundred photos to share and remember their beautiful day at the cottage.
Maybe you would like that too?
