Finding the light in the quiet of winter

Finding the light in the quiet of winter
As the sun sets on the shortest day of the year, I find myself sitting in the stillness that winter demands.
This season of reflection feels different for me this year. Following the loss of my husband, the “quiet” of winter has been a heavy companion, and I know that for many of you, the world feels particularly fragile and difficult right now. It can be hard to look toward the light when the shadows feel so long.
But even in the deepest winter, there is a reason we gather and a reason we document our lives. Loss has a way of clarifying what truly matters. It has reminded me that these photographs—the ones of messy laughter, quiet glances, and the presence of those we love—are not just images. They are our anchors.
As I look ahead to 2026, I am approaching my work with a renewed sense of purpose. I want to help you capture:
The Depth of Family: Not just “perfect” poses, but the genuine connection of extended families coming together.
The Brave Joy of Weddings: Celebrating love as a defiant, beautiful act in a complicated world.
The Quiet Moments: Honoring the “now,” because we know how precious it is.

As the days slowly begin to lengthen from here on out, I hope you find moments of peace and warmth amidst the cold. Thank you for being part of my community and for allowing me to document your most meaningful chapters.
