Congratulations to Hali S. and Matthew M.!!
On June 15, 2013 they will have a beautiful barn wedding in Traverse City.
Here is a portion of their entry:
“Matthew and I met in August, 2010 while attending an international missions meeting at our college. Our friendship was sparked when we later volunteered together as leaders of a church’s youth group.
The church was located in a small town where the options for activities for young people were few, so we did our best to make our group fun and beneficial for the students, most of whom came from broken homes and poverty.
Working together with the goal of showing love to others brought Matt and I together as companions in a strong way, and our desire to serve others together was deepened as we traveled on a ministry team from our college to Poland in March 2011. While there, we taught free English classes to lower and middle class individuals, volunteered in schools, churches, and nonprofits.
Working to meet people’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs was a huge growing experience for us yet again, and through it, we realized we had become a like-minded team.
We began dating in April 2011, and have continued to love and serve together, volunteering for Joplin tornado relief and work with the Salvation Army in The US, as well as returning to Poland (March 2012) to do more in-depth work with the poverty-stricken and orphans. During that second trip, Matt shocked me with an incredible marriage proposal in a Polish castle. I readily said yes! I am beyond excited to partner in a marriage with a man who shares my love of and serving others… I will be marrying my best friend and a man whose love for all people amazes me.”
Lisa, Marla, and Myself are grateful to help a couple who are already giving so much to those around them.
Thank you to everyone who entered. Your stories were touching and inspiring. We wish you all wonderful unions with your partners.
